Earth Day: Green World Map with Chia Seed (Soil)

Out of all of our Earth Day projects, this was the one we were waiting for: Green World Map.
The original idea from My Kids Time, suggested using cress seed. However, chia seed worked wonderfully too. https://www.mykidstime.com/food-and-recipes/7-fun-cress-ideas-to-introduce-your-child-to-growing-your-own/?epik=dj0yJnU9c2Z5YVJ1VkxnMTBNUDRDWWRFZXl4X2pBeS1hN3FVc2omcD0wJm49Xzg3ZkFQMWhhZm44dTFjZ0FyamlUZyZ0PUFBQUFBR1k2dkhR

We started with a little game of Continent Memory and then used those cards to trace the continents on several layers of paper towels. We then covered a cereal box base with parchment paper, laid out the continents and covered them in chia seed and a healthy dose of water. The chia really absorbs the water, especially on the first day, so pour liberally and often to keep it moist.

Left in a sunny room, the sprouting began within three days.
