Math Monday: Pegboard Geometry

Pegboards are a simple way to exercise fine motor muscles and imagination. We keep one in our Tinker Box with a set of screws and nuts, so the kids can create their own patterned pegboard.

For Math Monday, we combined the prepared pegboard with a set of popsicle sticks, Magnatiles and elastic bands. Leave out a Magnatile shape and have your child repeat the shape with elastic/pegboard, as well as popsicles sticks. The older set can accomplish all sorts of many-sidedd polygons, while our littlest member stuck to triangles, squares and rectangles.

You can expand this lesson to numbers and letters as well.
