Dress Up

Hey Chickie!

Shanghai temperatures are soaring (and this is JUST the start of summer), play dates have moved indoors, activities are chosen according to how refreshing they are (read: Ice Play, Water Play & Popsicle Eating!) Balcony plants get daily doses of water (and premature plucking!), but otherwise, we get pretty excited to be somewhere cool!

I pulled out our Dress Up Box for indoor play. Some great finds from IKEA, Old Navy Hallowe'en sales, as well as a few homemade items and pieces purchased at Yu Gardens down the street.

O loves imaginary play (and is obsessive about Tiger Talk, meaning the "friendly" and "unfriendly" tigers that live with us) so this was right up her alley!

Tiger Time!

I found a bag of Cat tails made for my former students. Some gray furry material cut in strips and sewn in a simple line. We used to play a game of Cat Tag, tucking the tail into the back of their pants. The person who is "It" (the "Dog!") has to collect as many tails as possible. When you lose your tail, you also become a Dog with the ability to swipe tails.
O just found it funny to throw the tails to see if they got caught in my Headdress.

I also had some capes on hand, previously made for my classroom. With a Hocus Pocus stick, this was O's next choice of costume.
