$10 Storage Rack Turned Mud Kitchen
Pic. One
At the start of Summer, we picked up this $10 storage rack from the Re-Store with the intent to make a Mud Kitchen.
Then I saw this Mud Kitchen from Fazaley Preschool http://fazeleypreschool.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/mud-kitchen.html and our plan was put on hold. It is gorgeous and clever!
Since Summer's over and still no Mud Kitchen in sight, I hauled the storage rack out of the garden shed.
Setting the bar a little lower was a lesson on working with what we already have.
More of a lesson for me than it was for O.
She happily got to work with the screwdriver, insisting Baby C and I take a rest (some Selfie's!) in the hammock!
Napping Hammock-Style

The first shelf that we removed, we flipped on it's side and screwed to the rear, for a 'back splash'.
(You may note from Pic. Two, who has taken over the hammock at this point!)

We then removed the top shelf and screwed it between the two bottom shelves, creating a large lower shelf and shallow middle shelf, as well as the 'counter top'.

I had to save the sawing for later tonight, as O got busy cooking as soon as the counter top was available!
We tore down several hooks when we first moved in, so I added one of these to the back splash for hanging pots and utensils.
Total cost:
$10 recycled shelving unit (including hardware)
$5 worth of tin pails
free hooks
leftover paint from our front deck
