Mouse's Pumpkin House
Cutie Pumpkins!
Another seasonal favourite, is the story of a field mouse finding a pumpkin for his house.
We do this every year, but it is somehow forgotten with a passing 364 days!
O's face lights up still, when I reveal the jack-o-lantern! http://mamadrool.blogspot.ca/2014/10/jack-olivia.html
If you are not a fantastic story-teller, but appreciate the art, this story is a great place to begin.
This year, O followed suit and ripped out features for her pumpkin while I was telling the story with mine.
We then mounted them on yellow paper and she added her own details.
Level One~ talk about facial features & feelings.
Baby C was able to tell me about the eyes, nose and mouth and the expression on the pumpkins face.
Level Two~ talk about symmetry & geometry!
It was simple to sneak in a math lesson for O.
To prep your pumpkin, you have to fold a paper in half and cut a semi-circle.
Once you open your pumpkin, you have created a symmetrical cut-out!
