Play Dough Numbers
O was gifted a non-birthday gift on the weekend; a lovely bin of wooden beads!
We combined these with play dough for a wee math and writing activity, courtesy of 'A Little Pinch of Perfect' http://www.alittlepinchofperfect.com/2015/07/numbers-and-counting-activity-for-kids.html
I started rolling out snakes for 'writing', and O quickly followed suit.
After creating the number 1, she wanted a little assistance with the following numbers.
I wrote them on the table with chalk. This is when a black table comes in very handy!
Adding the beads was the easy bit.
When we combine a bit of a challenge (writing numbers) with something that's simple to accomplish (counting out beads to coincide with the numbers) the result is often a satisfied learner.
O would have easily carried on with more numbers, except a play dough-eater arose from her slumber, so we scurried to hide the evidence of our project!
