Bird Seed Sensory Tray
We've used loads of mediums for sensory tray's, but we've yet to use bird seed, which was an appropriate addition to this weeks study.

We started with a little lesson in the Five Senses, since O was confused why I referred to the work as 'sensory'. I drew a simple drawing of facial features and a hand for O to identify their uses.
Next we sifted through the tray to determine which kind of seeds are in our mix, eaten by blue jays, cardinals, mourning doves, sparrows, starlings, chipmunks, squirrels and rabbits.
~sunflower seeds
~millet
~wheat berries
~cracked corn
We did a little alphabet work before O & Baby C were deep in play.
They used a colander to separate smaller seeds from larger, in order to grind grain "at the mill"!
Tracks in the Snow
A sign of how many birds the mix attracts, is indicated in the Spring snow we're receiving!
