Math Monday: Roasting Chestnuts

How to Roast Chestnuts
1) Wash & pierce an 'x' on each with a knife
2) Roast at 400 degrees for 30-40 minutes, depending on size

Before roasting our math manipulatives, we used them for work and story.

We wrote out numbers in chalk and used chestnuts for tracing...

...and brought out mini muffin tins & extra large dice for math equations.

We then read from the Autumn Flower Fairies about Horse Chestnuts.
This is a fantastic read if you love wee folklore, but also includes facts about seasonal flowers and foliage, all in poetry form.
