Bird Drawing

At the first sight of robins this week, some red-winged blackbirds and barn sparrows (my favourite!), we got to work on a Drawing with Children exercise; Birds.

Though I am not a serious fan of 'instructed' drawing, this was a decent project for two reasons:
a) teaching the basic elements of drawing, broken into pieces (circles, lines, curved lines, angles)
b) adding a dash of confidence to a shy artist
Essentially, even if you walk the artists through the steps, each drawing will turn out unique.

We were also able to connect our novel of the week (On the Banks of Plum Creek) with the bird drawing activity.
'Ma' keeps the children entertained with her 'form drawing' story and ends up with a picture of a bird!

EXPAND ON FORM DRAWING
Form drawing is often accompanied by a story, but is the basis of learning to write.
