Sci Fri: Seed Diversity & Travel

Simple seed science involved hunting around the kitchen for seeds.
We managed to find exactly enough to fill our muffin tin!
We had a chance to look at size, colour, texture and taste.

Then we dropped a spoon of water in each to see which seeds absorb water.
A surprise side experiment appeared when we learned that some of the seeds sprout!

 Milkweed in our yard

We moved our Seed Science outdoors to take a look at different seeds in nature.

Along with all of our beautiful seed picture books, we borrowed a scientific seed book outlining the clever way seeds travel considering plants don't move!
Animal Poop (berries)
Parachute Seeds (milkweed, dandelion)
Winter Storage (acorns)
Water (coconut)
Wind (maple keys)
