Mock Robin's Eggs

Last year we dyed eggs with red cabbage and the results were beautiful!
Not only is it a more environmental way to decorate eggs, it's a mini science experiment, super cheap and very simple.

We were a little more elaborate last year, by adding foliage prior to dying, but this years results were just as stunning and actually made their own patterns.

Cabbage Dye
~1 red cabbage, chopped
~water to cover
~4 T white vinegar
Boil cabbage. Allow to cool.
Drain water into mason jar and add vinegar.

You can write secret messages with white wax or crayons prior to dipping in dye, dye in shades (ombre-style) or even add a little gold paint splatters for glamorous eggs! https://honestlyyum.com/12980/diy-dyed-robin-eggs/#comments

We happen to have a growing collection of birds nests, so this was a perfect display spot (that is completely confusing the real robins!)
