Wander Wednesday: Field Trip

Wander Wednesday became an actual Field Trip, in the field.
Our house is humming with the talk of our local Snowy Owl (Jon. Yes, Jon Snow) who apparently is only around on the weekends when Daddy (Harry. Yes, Harry Potter) is home.
As it turns out, we learned that Snowy Owls are 'diurnal', meaning they sleep either day or night.

Having had several spottings of Jon in the open field, we decided to go hunting for Owl Pellets.
He likes his spot on the cedar fence posts, so we decided to stick to those.
Jon did not disappoint! We found at least one, at every post we have seen him perched, along with rodent skin and intestines!

 Puddle X-ing

We found our first Owl Pellet at the farm, near the garage.
It looks like wet lint, but has bits of bones scattered in the mass.

We came home with a total of 6 pellets and will give them a few days to dry before dissecting!

Jim Arnosky's drawings look photographic!
These are kid-perfect books with life-like art and interesting information abound.
