Word Wednesday: Cardinal Poetry
"The trouble isn't making poems.
The trouble is finding someone that will listen to them."
~The Bat-Poet, by Randall Jarrell
As we were finishing up our chapter book of the week, we decided to be inspired by the Little Brown Bat and write a poem about the Cardinal (as he was really struggling with his subject matter!)
After a little encouragement, each Miss O and Miss C came up with their own poems!
Cardinals are red
Their babies are brown
And so are you
My little town
(whispers) because they are polluted, Mom
~Miss O
With a big old smirk, Miss C followed suit!
Babies are brown
Cardinals are red
And so are you
My little head!
hahahaha!
Miss O has written a number of Senses poems, so it was Miss C's turn!
I set up the Senses Stones to help guide her to write her own Bird Poem.
She studied the stones before getting down to business. She loves to print, so was pleased with herself when she had a) devised her own poem and b) printed it herself!
