Mud Monoprints

Monoprints are hands down, one of our favourite art methods.
It proves to be a pretty messy method, so being outdoors is a big benefit.
Why not amp up the mess factor, making mud the medium of choice!

 Mud Experts Journey
To find ideal mud, I had to consult with the experts.
I ordered a bucket of medium viscosity, not too liquid, not too solid.
My mud expert disappeared down a path a hundred meters away and returned a few minutes later with a top notch batch.
When I asked why she had to go so far, she explained that this was the purest mud available, free from grass, hay, stones and other 'impurities'!

For monoprints (literally "one print"), you need:
~acrylic sheet (the size of the paper you're using is best)
~blank paper
~ink/paint/mud!
~paint roller/brayer/paint brush
~etching tools (in this case, fingers!)
Slather 'paint' onto acrylic sheet.
Too dry =unable to etch design
Too wet = design will disappear in the liquid
When you are happy with your design, lay on a sheet of blank paper, rub the back and peel off to hang dry.

While we were already messy, we took Mud Paint one step further and created a Mud Print Mural.

Summer wash-up is super simple; scrub up at water table, or simply, wash down directly in water table.
A hose will work well, but gets complicated with three siblings.
