Harvesting Black Beans
Black Bean Harvest
Pulled Pods (Sun-Drying, 1 week)
Dried & Ready for Shelling
Separating Bean from Pod (Seed Save & Store)
Last year I learned by complete accident, that if you have an abundance of green beans that are too stingy to eat, let them dry out and use their beans for boiling (and seed saving)!
This year, we bought my favourite, black bean to do the same.
Wait until the pods are plump and leaves start to yellow.
Pull them out and allow them to dry in the sun. Any moisture maintained will lead to mold.
Shell and save some for next years planting. Store the rest for your best bean dishes.
