Pin Prick Pictures

Continuing our senses study, we tried our hand at Pin Prick Pictures.
Each child was given a thick towel, paper and push-pin.
They were to draw simple shapes that someone could recognize by feeling, without sight.

It was interesting to watch how they helped each other through the 'feeling' stage, guiding hands and giggling while the other person attempted to guess what they were touching.

We extended this activity with Fingerprint Samples.
There are three basic shapes in fingerprints: arches, loops and whorls.
All of us are 'arches'.

A little house guest was also in need of his fingertips today!
