Math Monday: Traffic Light Math

Knowing my affinity for learning through play, a dear friend in Beijing, sent suggestions for math games!

Traffic Light Math is meant to highlight place value, but also turned out to be a lesson in deduction!

The premise:
One person picks a random number in the hundreds and writes it down secretly.
Remaining play(ers) have to guess possible numbers to be placed in value chart.

If the correct number is in the correct place, it receives a green mark.
If the number is correct, but the place is incorrect, it receives a yellow mark.
If neither number nor position is correct, it received a red mark.
No number can be called twice, so a number line at the top helps you keep track of what digits remain.

It sounds tricky and it took a few runs for me to get the hang of it.
Miss O caught on immediately!
