20 Days of Play: Snow

Using snow as a medium for sculpting.
Seriously, if you live in snowy Canada for the winter, why not actually make use of the abundance?
Expect more snow activities all season long!

Bring the outdoors in and do a little snow science.
Our table was brimming with frosty fluff, that eventually melted into a sad puddle.
Measure how much snow it takes to make a tiny puddle!

Add containers for building Snow Castle's and coloured water with pipettes.

As soon as the first flake hits the ground, my kids have two questions:
Where's the boiled syrup?
and
Can we go out in the fields now?
(cows are in for the winter)

Making Maple taffy is a sweet, sticky science activity.
How can snow melt into a puddle when warmed, but syrup turn into candy?
