20 Days of Play: Yarn

 Assortment of Spools and Skeins
Knitting spools are a great starter project for practicing handwork patience!
A few things to consider if you're looking to make or purchase a Knitting Spool:
~the original I had from childhood was the best: brass nails with ample heads, wide center hole for finished product to feed through
~yank on your yarn prior to knitting. We had a few skeins that snapped easily, which makes for a frustrating process
~wood spools look beautiful, but lacking nails/steel, they are not as practical to slide yarn onto and off of

Prior to starting I was a little nervous that this activity would cause more frustration than anything.
It did result in serious concentration. As long as I was available for help, frustration was on the low.

Ohhh! My favourite!
Socks for Supper is straight from my childhood reading repertoire and as an adult, I love it even more.
I only wish there were more of Jack Kents work!

A lovely little 'tutorial' of the steps it takes to get a freshly tailored suit, starting from sheep shearing.
Pelle asks his friends trade services to finally get him his new suit.

We followed up our knitting activity by spinning yarns; Edmund Unravels and Cat Knit (and of course, Extra Yarn)
