Daily Doodle: Chalk Carolers

Chalk is the perfect medium for smudge-worthy work.
We started with a quick 'circle' demo; creating coloured chalk circles and then smudging the outer edges for a 'glowing' effect.
Then we went on to create a picture, deciding which bits would be best to smudge (snowflakes, lanterns...)

Hands down my favourite Illustrator/author combo's of all time come from stories by Sibylle von Olfers or Elsa Beskow. Certainly doesn't hurt that they are seasonally-based reads as well with loads of nature and homestead-living scenes.
