Small World Play: Mini Yurta

Though it would be tricky to invent the genius that is the yurt, we made Mini Yurta's for Small World Play.
Add a map of Mongolia, some kinetic sand, a few Schliech animals and you have yourself a tiny corner of the globe in the palm of your hands!

Fire crackles, wind teases
wind, fire, felt and wood
Smoke rises on the breezes
wind, fire, felt and wood

Travel the world, far and wide
wind, fire, felt and wood
Home is the place you live inside
wind, fire, felt and wood

We also included some minature weaving for 'carpets', like the ones traded on the Silk Road and used in yurts to help keep out the cold.
You can make your own mini loom with wood and a few nails, or try Wood Block Weaving https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/345229127682121954/

I have a few 'Lit Friends'. These are dear buddies who recommend fantastic childrens literature. One of them happens to live in Beijing where her daughters attend a school with an actual yurt in the library!! This particular friend found this title and forwarded. Thank You, Miss A!
