Word Wednesday: Journal Covers
Everyone loves the coveted sewing machine!
We found a simple pattern for a Journal Cover courtesy of 'Tidbits' https://www.tidbits-cami.com/diy-leather-journal-cover/
In place of leather, we chose forgiving felt. Since felt doesn't fray, it's a great fabric for whipping up a quick project.
The big kids each chose their favourite cotton fabric and cut felt and cotton with the following pattern.
The large strap is sewn top and bottom length to slide in a notebook.
We left room to sew a pen holder, but everyone wanted their pens on the outside of their journal.
As we're reading Little House series, we've talked about how Laura admired certain people, traits she noticed in herself, plans and dreams she revealed. Some of these things are not obvious, but in your own journal, you can outline sections to focus on any of the following:
Reflection.
~self portrait
~thoughts and feelings
~attributes
Inspiration.
~quotes
~stories of people we admire
Growth Mindset
~hopes and dreams
Sketches
