Daily Doodle: Bald Eagle Sighting

He clasps the crags with crooked hands
Close to the sun in lonely lands
Ringed with the azure world he stands.

The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls
He watches from his mountain walls
And like a thunderbolt he falls.
~Alfred, Lord Tennyson

While we were skating on the creek, a Bald Eagle flew right overhead, inspiring our Daily Doodle as we continue our winter birds study.

We spend a lot of time with watercolour.
I set out some photos of bald eagles from our Bird Guides, framed paper with masking tape and the kids chose the same photo from which to work.

Our chapter book of the week landed in our laps as a gift from one of Daddy's colleagues.
Originally written in Czech, it follows two Kingfishers, Or and Kik on their trials of a life as birds throughout the year.

The latest read to make it to the Wish List.
Not only are the illustrations sweet and simple, the poems have been collected from all over the world and there is one for each day of the year.
