Word Wednesday: Morse Code Messages

Touching on technology of the times, Morse Code has come up in our discussions about the Titanic, followed by many questions regarding why it sunk before help arrived.

After providing a main Morse Code de-coder, each child had they're own message to discipher.

We have a dear friend who absolutely adores Mary Pope Osborne's 'Magic Tree House' series.
We happened to have the Titanic version. 
Though it doesn't go into great detail about the event, it's an appropriate introduction for young learners.

'Dear Canada' is a series of fictional diaries based on historic events.

The first one we read was about children sent from England to Canada during the World Wars.
We were all disappointed these were fictional with historical facts. They are chock full of history and must have taken a great deal of thought to write!
