Word Wednesday: The Sun in Literature

Our second theme for Earth Week is Fire.
The great flaming star that keeps our planet alive.

We read a native narrative about how the Sun began in the sky, How the Raven Stole the Sun, as we painted our version of the story.

We've also been looking at animated descriptions of the Sun in Mary Poppins Comes Back, by PL Travers.
"A towering golden figure with
flaming curls upon his head and a wide radiant face."

"Lord of the Stars, O Sun!
He is the King of the South and North, " called Orion,
"and Ruler of the East and West. He walks the outer rim of the world and the Poles melt in his glory.
He draws up the leaf from the seed
and covers the land with sweetness."
