Cabbage Colour Science

"My hands are turning blue!"

We've been spending the last weeks of summer working on science.
Loads of science successes but fails have tipped the scales.
This experiment reminded us of our Easter Egg dying with cabbage and vinegar.
It's a similar acid chemical reaction, except for the colour does not change from purple to blue. It changed from purple to fuschia and it was brilliant!

First shred purple cabbage and squeeze the juice into a bowl (Blue Hands business!)
Second, place a few spoons of cabbage juice into a glass and top with water.
Slowly pour lemon juice into the purple water.

DK is my top favourite publisher for non-fiction literature.
This is a great kitchen science resource.
