Gases Science

Inflating a surgical glove with gases

More chemistry as we continue Science throughout this week.
We opted for two experiments with gases: gas as a by product of combining yeast and sugar, as well as the reaction from baking soda and vinegar.

We predicted which vessel would have the quickest reaction: yeast or baking soda and vinegar.

The yeast reacted more slowly, but only by minutes.
After about 3 minutes, the glove was fully inflated to bursting away from the lip of the jar!

The baking soda and vinegar reaction was so quick, we could not get a photo, so had to repeat it several times over!
