I was first introduced to Thornton Burgess animal stories at a local bookstore.

Paddy the Beaver, Chatterer the Squirrel and Buster the Bear were priced a little higher than the rest of the picture books, but the owner insisted we would not be disappointed.

He was right!

Then I discovered The Burgess Book of Animals and The Burgess Book of Birds.

Now we're hooked. They follow the lives and interactions of North American wildlife and are chocked full of funny adventures and facts.
