Every year we delve into some poppy art in honour of Remembrance Day.
This year we had the kids draw three sets of 11's representing the month, day and hour that ended the first world war in 1918.
Then we turned the 11's into poppies; buds and flowers.
A beautiful book called Botanicum by Katie Scott and Kathy Willis, illustrates a variety of flowers, buds and seeds in vintage poster style. We use this book often (and so I bought it!)
If you can borrow or buy a copy of 'The Eleventh Hour' it is a priceless 2018 picture book about two lifelong friends who become soldiers.

Prepare your hankies.
We read Wallace Edwards, 'What is Peace', which is solely written with questions to have you consider the many ways peace might be translated by different people.
