Math Monday: Percentage Picture
Working 'inside the box' this week, we started with a math activity.
'Hands-On Math' has some clever projects to teach percentage.
We created a homemade Hundreds Board and some simple squares on the side.
By placing 10 squares on the board, we provided a visual representing 10%.
Then we discussed how many squares we would need to show 50%, 30% and so on, before challenging the kids to create a 25% picture.
After a few challenges, I asked that they create their own design and determine the percentage.
