Math Monday: Carbon Footprint Challenge

A foot is not always a foot.
And so began Math Monday.

I asked the kids to trace their foot on a piece of paper.
Afterwards I gave them a bowl of glass pebbles.
Then I proceeded to ask question about lifestyle involving Food, Travel, Home and Stuff
*Carbon Footprint Test, check out WWF https://footprint.wwf.org.uk/#/

This week...
Every hour spent in a car = one pebble
If we purchased food items from another country = one pebble
If you take a bath instead of a shower = one pebble
Every time you left a light on after leaving a room = one pebble
Etc.

They were quite keen to come out with the same footprint and this brought about discussion regarding actions we can take to reduce our footprint.
It is no longer good enough to Reduce Reuse Recycle, but many people are now insisting that Refuse, should be the highest on that list.
