Penguins

A former homeschool mom gifted me a beautiful Animal Origami set complete with painted paper.
We finally got around to using them.
These papers are prepared with solid lines for cutting, dotted lines for folding and instruction booklet to walk you through the steps.

March of the Penguins is a beautiful look at the landscape at the South Pole and the animals that survive and thrive there. This film focuses largely on a Year in the Life, so we can witness the family, community and dangers penguins face on a daily basis.

We had heard great things about this very silly, totally fictional Mr. Poppers Penguins written by a husband and wife team. Mr. Popper is a poor painter who is home during the 'off season' of winter. He is obsessed with all things Polar. When he writes to an expeditioner, he receives a penguin as a pet. Much to his wifes chagrin, the little money that they have is devoted to making this penguin (and later, his family!) comfortable away from home.
It certainly drives home the importance of animals and habitat.
