Great Backyard Bird Count
Great Backyard Bird Count began with a little sparrow.
Feathers went flying when she bumped into our window and landed in a bush, unable to get herself free.
She patiently let us remove and hold onto her until she felt comfortable to fly again.
Definitely the nature highlight of the week!
We happen to collect nests that drop, so we had the perfect spot for her to recover.
Plus a house that Miss C built that was just her size.
We made her a home with seed, suet and water before she left the nest....
This years Backyard Bird Count was poor timing on my part.
We completely chose a time of day that the birds were not looking for food!
A total of one woodpecker was accounted for in an entire 20 minutes.
Several hours later (read: dinnertime) the bird came by the hundreds to the feeders outside our window.
It was then, that the clipboards returned for tallying!
