Stunning Landscape with Chalk Pastel

Miss C-age six

Chalk pastels have become the latest craze in our house.
We even ordered a giant kit of to help us through some art therapy time.
I found a teacher who leads Monet Cafe. The lesson was not designed for children (and it's rather long, at 60 minutes) but the kids created such stunning pieces, we'll be back to the virtual Cafe in the weeks to come.

We began with a watercolour wash.
Wet your paper.
Apply yellow watercolour to bleed.
Add some dark yellow/orange in the foreground where the trees will be drawn.

Once your wash is dry, line your pastel choices alongside your paper, in order of use.
Sky (light-dark blues, gray, lilac) Pines (light-dark greens, light blues, lilacs) Field Foreground (red-brown, bright orange, light green, light blue)
She then took us step by step as we created our pieces alongside.
