Math Monday: Butterfly Symmetry Graph

Mirroring images using graph paper allows us to create accurate symmetry.

The kids created large and small butterflies, whose wings match on each side.

Nature is full of symmetrical objects, so you could use this activity to explore variations.

Once they had created their images, they transferred them onto a 13x13cm pin-prick grid. 

Essentially, a form of pattern-making.
