Word Wednesday: Lacing Cards

In kindergarten, our teacher used to collect styrofoam plates from students for homemade lacing cards.
We made some cardboard and wood versions and tested them on our resident four-year old.

The big kids always have some sewing projects on the go, so Mr. M was keen to choose his thread colours and backstitch his way around the letters.
It's great for concentration, hand-eye coordination and he was very proud of producing letters with a thread and needle.

Since we had some cedar bits hanging about, we attempted the same style card with wood.
The trickiest bit was drilling clean holes for the cotton thread to go through.
Coloured shoelaces were successful.
