Annual Art Gallery
Portraiture by Miss O
First, I love sifting and smiling through the process of choosing pieces from the past year.
Second, I love watching the kids enjoy a tour of their progress. They really notice how they have made personal improvements and they comment on each others skills.
Lastly, I learn a lot from looking at a years worth of art; where the kids are at in terms of interests, where we are in terms of balancing topics, if projects from previous years are repeated I know they have been well-received, but it also gives me a chance to consider new prospects for upcoming projects.
All year long, we rotate our recent work in a Mini Gallery, but this Annual Art Gallery gives us a good overview of 365 days done.

Curating the pieces happens every month, so the end of year is much simpler to complete.I collect the kids handfuls of work in a basket and sort into two piles: Nature Journal and General Art.
Anything that contains wildlife, plants, countries, including poetry and writing, is pasted into their Nature Journals on a monthly basis. Later on the Nature Journal below.
The second pile is a General Art pile. From this pile I class the Annual Art Gallery into three-four divisions: portraiture, landscape/nature, math art (which can include perspective drawing).
Then I begin hanging at just-above-little-brothers-reach range.
Landscape & Wildlife by Miss C
This year we had great success with chalk drawings.
We took tutorials from Monet Cafe online and produced some amazing art.

On a small table, we display other mediums such as plasticine, stitch, canvas and origami work.
Nature Journals
So many homeschool families have Nature Journals and no two are alike!
Our kids work gets pasted in these journals, rather than direct sketching or writing.
Over the course of the year, you can note the changing of seasons based on the art.

Though Mr. M is in the early stages of making art, the invite is always open to join in.
Because of his age and skill-level, process art is most successful; anything that involves making a mess or experimenting with supplies without being too concerned about the resulting work.
