Math Monday: Percentage Pictures
Percentage pictures are a fantastic visual activity for demonstrating a math concept.
Using a hundreds board and coloured paper squares, you can create an image (similar to a pixelation) and give the image a percentage, based on the numbers of squares used.
We have completed this project using Chinese characters of the kids choosing.
This time around, our theme was Narnia, so Aslan was the go-to subject.
It's good to take some time to arrange your squares prior to gluing them in place.
The only pointer here is to make sure you are safe from wind, especially if you are attempting a high percentage picture.
Once complete, the kids are responsible for determining the percentage used and make a guessing game of whose looks like it takes up more of the board.
