Math Monday: Aztec Geometry

Mexico's history is rich with indigenous peoples: the Aztecs and Mayans. First we read about Aztec mythology through Musicians of the Sun by Gerald McDermott. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3QWsDeJ158
We then took a look at Aztec geometric design to create our own plasticine stamps courtesy of Fifth Wizardry

To make plasticine stamps, you need a good ball of any modeling clay. The more clay you have to work with, the more you have to grip when stamping. You can use tools to carve into the clay, or make a relief by carving the excess clay away from your design. We tried both and carving into the clay proved the simplest. The benefit of using clay means creating lots of detail. The stamps can be stored away for future use, or rolled up for future creations.
