Sci Fri: Thermal Powered Flowers

We combined the lights that celebrate Diwali, with the flower that signifies Remembrance Day for science Friday: Thermal Powered Flowers.

We began with a heavier cardboard (cereal box) to create the fan. Plus we made the mistake of not pushing to the bottom of the plasticine with the straw and skewer (so the skewer can touch the tabletop). After modifications (paper flower and hole through plasticine base) we had more success.

The most success, getting the flower to spin, came when we shielded the heat to stay inwards and move upwards. The barrier allowed motion to progress continually.
