Math Monday: Symmetry

Symmetry is a fantastic brain math exercise. It involves slicing an object in half so both sides have mirror images-or completing the image that is missing. The big kids have been providing the little one with symmetry drawings, like the butterfly.

Tactile symmetry projects are easy to put together. Simply draw a line (or use a piece of masking tape) to show the center. Use objects from around the house (magnatiles, dominoes, blocks, lego) to set up one side. Have your child complete the mirror image on the other. Definitely provide a mirror for self-correcting.
