Word Wednesday: Word from a Bird

 

Putting ourselves in place of the birds, the kids had to choose a feathered friend who stays put all winter, or migrates South, before penning a letter. We started with some seed catalogue collage to embellish the post! 

 

Provide several stencils of a variety of birds. Have the children identify by silhouette alone. Determine which birds migrate and which do not.

 

Using old seed catalogues, paste flowers and plant pictures onto a sheet of paper. Use the stencils to cut out images of the birds. Note: if you have preschoolers-they will be more than happy to oblige cutting your catalogues!
