Magnatiles & Light Table

Magnatiles are another great resource for open-ended play. They are usually involved in construction-play but for rainbow studies-they show how mixing two colours creates another.

You can purchase a pricey light table for a variety of uses in your home/classroom, or you can assemble your own according to the size that suits you.
Some people buy a wooden table and remove a piece from the top to replace with acrylic. You can then attached lighting under the table. We created a smaller version from some 1x4" off cuts, screwed together at the seams and added clear acrylic on top. My husband drilled a small notch in the side for the lighting wire to run to the electrical source. This is a tabletop version the kids generally use for tracing and Magnatiles.
