Rising Water Science

 

Our second Water Science experiment of the week involved air pressure and water levels. The early predictions involved the candle being extinguished as we have previously experimented with the results of fire losing oxygen (as it does in the mountains). The results occur in front of your eyes immediately after the candle extinguishes and the water gets 'sucked rapidly into the jar. As long as your wick remains dry-this can be repeated many times over (and did!)
