Fantastic egg-speriment with a POP!

Admittedly, not all of our science experiments are a success-and so it goes with science. But when we meet an experiment that works, it's big smiles all round. We first hard-boiled our tray of eggs. Cover eggs in cold water, bring to a boil, turn off heat and allow to sit for 12 minutes before running under cool water. At this point, the kids were happy to peel their eggs, keeping them intact for science.

Before attempting the experiment, try placing the egg in the neck of the bottle, making sure it does not fit.

Next, light a small piece of paper and throw it into the neck of the bottle before placing the egg back at the opening. Within a few seconds POP! the egg is in (and in our case, smashed to smithereens!)

They definitely wanted to repeat this process several times over. Simply dump out the contents of the bottle and allow a few minutes for the bottle to cool again before your following attempts.
