Volcano Anatomy & Puzzle
Using Project-Based Learning, we have introduced the three types of rock: sedimentary, metamorphic and now igneous. The latter was studied using Volcano science and anatomy.
For the littlest in your lesson-preparing a puzzle ahead of time is a better bet than asking them to draw the volcano with you-unless they are keen to copy. The bigger kids were able to create a 'V' on their paper, turn it upside-down and begin the details and labeling.
Before preparing our sketches and puzzles of Volcano anatomy, we headed outdoors for the infamous volcano experiment. Miss O even insisted on collecting some ask for effect. We filled small bottles (smaller the better/bigger explosion) with baking soda and dyed a glass of vinegar red for pouring. Each child built their own volcano in the field, sprinkled it with ash before spilling in the vinegar.
