Literature Study: My Fathers Dragon

 

Admittedly, the outstanding cover illustration drew me in, but the kids were captivated by this mini novel about a boy who runs away to rescue a dragon. R. S. Gannett has two subsequent novels that follow the adventures of Elmer Elevator-now on our radar.

Two projects allowed us to expand on these adventures.

In light of the bold cover illustration, we followed a tutorial for ink and oil tiger art, courtesy of Elementary Art Fun.
