Word Wednesday: Senses Poem & Tagalog
Our dear friend recommended this read, When Lola Visits about a grandmother that visits from the Phillippines to spend the summer with her family. Since it was based on summer and the senses, we used it as a base for creating our own Summer Senses poetry.
Summer looks like clouds and sunshine
Summer feels like kitten fur and books
Summer tastes like apples and raspberries
Summer sounds like bees and laughter
Summer smells like bonfires and marshmallows
Summer looks like blue sky, kittens and green leaves
Summer feels like warm breezes and fur
Summer tastes like ice cream and cold water.
Summer sounds like birds, rushing water and rain falling.
Summer smells like ocean wind and ripe apples.
We also had the chance to look at the Tagalog language in the form of a nursery rhyme, Batay Kubo. https://www.findingfilipino.com/blog/2018/5/8/nursery-rhymes-and-childrens-songs
