Scarab Amulet: Embossing with Foil

Egyptians appreciated the scarab beetle as an insect that buried their eggs in their own dung and life came forth. These beetles were found in tombs as lucky charms or amulets.

The kids designed their own beetles on board and outlined them with cotton twine. Once the details were in place, glue all around the board and set down a sheet of foil. Press well with cotton swab to emphasize the design.
