Vegan Bites: Cinnamon Starflake

If you set out dough in my house, the kids come running. It's one of those few activities that all of them are happy to take part in. The recipe was for a large snowflake star, but we cut some ends off of the dough to make our mini creations.

~200mL milk + 50mL extra, if needed
~1.5T butter
Heat until warm to the touch. Add...
~2 1/4t yeast
Allow to bloom.
~3.5c flour
~3/8c sugar
~pinch salt.
Combine dry. Create a well in center of dough and add yeast mixture. Knead for 10 minutes, adding bits of milk if it's too dry. Allow to rise in oiled bowl. Punch down and allow to rise for additional 30 minutes. Divide into 4 balls. Roll into 12" round on floured surface. Between each round, spread butter and cinnamon mixture (minus the top round.)
~1/3c brown sugar
~1T cinnamon.
To make a star, place a cup rim in the center of the circle. Cut lines outward from the cup at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock. Continue cutting lines until you have 16 outward cuts. Take two, side-by-side strands. Twist them away from each other twice and pinch together at the tip. Cover with towel and rise 30 minutes. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.
